Picture Pick FriYAY: Lake Tahoe, Ca

Picture Pick Friday is all about Lake Tahoe, California. We visited my brother, sister-in-law, and niece two years ago for the 4th of July. They were living in Petaluma, California at the time, but had friends who had a cabin in Lake Tahoe.  We had a total blast exploring Tahoe. This was my first visit to Tahoe and it lived up to its beautiful reputation.

Picture Pick FriYAY: San Francisco, Ca

Notice that I changed the title from Pic Pick Friyay to Picture Pick FriYAY? I had a couple people comment that the first title was confusing and looked like a typo, so hopefully the new title is better. (Thank you for the feedback!)

Anyway…

This week’s Picture Pick FriYAY is all about San Francisco. We visited San Fran when we went to Petaluma California for my brother’s wedding. San Francisco is a wonderful city, one that I would like to explore more some day. These pictures were taken in September, 2012.

Pic Pick Friyay: Joshua Tree, Ca

Miles took these photos in 2009 when he and his best friend embarked on a climbing trip around the U.S.

One day I hope Miles and I go to Joshua Tree together. The landscape is incredible. For now, I will just enjoy Miles’ photos, I hope you do too.

Pic Pick Friyay: Friday Harbor

Happy Friyay! I chose images from Friday Harbor, Washington to share with you guys. Friday Harbor is one of the places in the Puget Sound that I picture when I am writing my YA novel. As I mentioned in the post where I explain my YA novel, Rebecca (the heroine in my story) wants to study marine biology, and Friday Harbor would be a fantastic place to fall in love with marine life. There are whales, porpoises,  seals (so many seals), star fish, crabs, clams, and much more.

Pic Pick Friyay: Port Townsend

Miles took these incredible photos while visiting a friend in Pt. Townsend, Washington. He took The Kingston Ferry from Seattle to Pt. Townsend. The photos were taken at sunrise.

The black and white cover image I chose for this post is one of my all-time favorites. I love how the photo conveys both motion and placidness.

Pic Pick Friyay!!!

I love these two pictures. They are some of my first landscapes that I took on film when I was really trying to learn photography. I wish I would have noted the settings and film type! I know I was shooting a few roles of Fuji Velvia around then and judging by the saturation I am going to say it was probably that.

I was in college at the time and was looking for a creative outlet and that’s when I really started to get into photography. I love to hike and be outside and photography was/is a perfect companion for that.

Have a great weekend and make some memories!

Pic Pick Friyay: Seattle Flight

Miles and I lived in Seattle briefly (six months). During our short stay, Miles surprised me with a flight around Seattle. We had a total blast, and it still warms my heart that he included me on this adventure.

Miles up in the sky (eh, see what I did there?) Miles took some pretty fantastic pictures.

Pic Pick Friyay: Methow Valley

Hi guys,

Happy Friyay! My week has been BUSY! I’ve been working like a mad woman on my YA novel.  My manuscript has become my second child and a bit of an obsession.

So, I am happy to spend some time on Pic Pick Friyay. I started Picture Pick Friyay last week with my 50th post. This week I would like to show and tell you about The Methow Valley in Wa. Ladies and Gents, The Methow Valley is the hidden gem of Washington. It holds a very special place in our heart. Miles proposed at The Freestone Inn located in the Methow Valley in October of 2012. We spent our one year anniversary there as well.

I combined two trips into one for this post:

Engagement 2012.

One Year Anniversary 2014.

Ok, I am going to shut up now and let Miles’ pictures do most of the talking.

Picture Pick Fri-yay & 50th Post

Ok so here is the deal with Picture Pick Fri-yay. My husband Miles is an amazing photographer (I’m biased yes) but for real he is awesome. He has files upon files of incredible photos that just live there buried in our computer. So I want to share some of them with you guys-thus Picture Pick Fri-yay. Get ready, this is going to be “a thing” every Friday. I’m going to share some pictures that documents a moment/event in our livestrivial or major. Also this post is my 50th post, so it seems fitting to try something new. This week’s photos are less about quality and more about what they captured: Chaos and lots of praying to sweet baby Jesus that our house didn’t flood.

The Flood of 2015

It’s hard to believe on this beautiful sunny day here in Washington that our front yard  looked like this:

DSC_1245

OMG right?  Those are boats that floated out of our neighbor’s yards upriver. (Please ignore the leopard rain boots.)

We are fortunate to live with a beautiful river in our backyard, but every once in awhile that decision can bite us in the ass. DSC_1237

There I am at the bank of the river (our backyard). Luckily the river did not go over the bank, but it did flood up river. Which is why we had so much water in the yard.

DSC_1264

Yep, our house was an island. We were blessed that we didn’t get any water in the house. When I look at these photos it makes me a little bit nauseous. Every winter we hold our breath that the water doesn’t rise.

So that’s Picture Pick Fri-yay: short, sweet, and visual. What do you guys think of this new ritual to my blog?

Also, thanks for providing the pictures Miles!

Happy Fri-yay!
