Looking Back

When you look back,
may the sun illuminate every raindrop, shadow, and angry cloud.

Find the golden line of clarity around every moment you asked,
“Why me?!”.

May you see the beauty of the sunlight and rain that make up your life
and realize you needed both to grow.

May you draw strength and wisdom from every storm,
and let peace fill your soul.

I love reading about everything. I'm not a book snob. Lately I have been "reading" a lot of picture books to my toddler and baby. In my past life before motherhood, I was a professional technical editor and writer.

  1. Your poem brings a smile to the face and calm to the heart. It’s a hard life, but your poem reminds us so beautifully how easy it is to see and feel the goodness of things. Things that surround us and nurture us and make us human.

thanks for sharing, Rachel. So very nice.

      1. My 82 year old father found himself in Emergency at the hospital over the weekend…today finds me fielding calls, etc. He’s home now but must go back daily for IV treatment for a pesky infection that won’t heal…your words slowed my thoughts down so I could take a cleansing breath and carry on.
