Post-Holiday Post

Happy Monday.

Is everyone recovered from their post-holiday hangover? I’m still getting there.

If you hadn’t noticed, I was M.I.A last month. Here are a few things I did over the month of December:

  • Started working on a Guest Post Questionnaire for the lovely blog M.Miles. I’m looking forward to reading her post and I will make sure to link to it so that you can read it.
  • I read A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas. (Book review coming soon.)
  • I’m currently reading a novel called A Journal For Damned Lovers by S.K. Nicholas. I’ve been following his blog for a year now. He is a fantastic writer. His blog is also called A Journal For Damned Lovers.
  • I’ve had more people volunteer to beta read my book.
  • I missed you all.

Here is what I did not do last month:

  • Look at my own novel.

But yesterday I picked up where I left off in November and started editing and rewriting.

Did I mention I missed you?

I love reading about everything. I'm not a book snob. Lately I have been "reading" a lot of picture books to my toddler and baby. In my past life before motherhood, I was a professional technical editor and writer.

  1. Thank you for the mention, Rachel. It’s very kind of you 🙂 I’m so pleased you enjoy my words.
I hope you get back into the swing of things quickly. I too took some time off from writing over Christmas and am now doing my best to pick things up again. With any luck you’ll be there in no time 🙂 x

  2. We did miss you. But it’s important to take care of yourself, and be more concerned with the “real” life than the online one. Yeah, we’re a community here, but we’re also not in your everyday life, or your family, or pets, or whatever else may need more immediate attention. It happens. After all, I just made a post about needing to cut back, and I’m sure I’m not alone!

    How’s the editing going?

    1. Thank you for understanding Daley. I enjoyed your post about cutting a few things out. I could definitely relate.

The editing is going well. It’s a constant mental struggle. One minute I tell myself “This is absolute crap!”. Then I think “Oh that was actually a good line.” and pat myself on the back. LOL

      1. There were some things that I thought about cutting out – then I put back in – out again – yeah, it can become slightly self-destructive. At one point, I realized I had kept a character I intended to take out – but actually changed them from female to male, and *wow* did that work. Ha! Interesting, that. 🙂
